CrossFit 137 COVID-19 Response and Gym Closing Temporarily

Dear gym members and CrossFit community,

Today it was recommended by Governor Mills that non-essential public-facing services close for two weeks in an attempt to slow the spread of the COVID-19 flu virus outbreak.
Like many local gym owners, I struggled with this business decision prior to the Governor's strong recommendation. And even though we followed guidelines for cleanliness, vigilance and reduced class sizes, it still may not be enough to keep the virus from spreading to our members and their loved ones.
While I wish we could keep the gym open indefinitely and hope that no one got sick, I believe it would be prudent for CrossFit 137 to close down for two weeks. We will be closed starting tonight 3/18/20, through 4/1/20. We will target a re-open date of 4/2/20, but that will of course be re-evaluated as new recommendations (or mandates) come down from state and federal agencies.
I will continue programming home WODs for those interested. Keep an eye on the members page for those, and other news.
Please understand that we do not do this lightly. The goal is for us to help do our part in slowing the spread of the illness so that it doesn't overwhelm healthcare and emergency services beyond their capacity to deal with the outbreak. While none of us wanted this outcome, let's try to focus on the positives. Use Facebook and other social platforms to keep encouraging  and giving each other that positive feedback loop that makes this community what it is.
I look forward to overcoming this adversity together and seeing you all again on the other side of this public health crisis.
